Magnolia Falls 

Mossville, AR - Approx. 2 Miles - Easy Out & Back

The best hiking is spent with dear friends and a sweet puppers. Shelby, Parker and Silas joined us for a short hike to Magnolia Falls over Spring Break in March of 2022.  

Parking for the trailhead is located along the side of County Road 6. Being a easy, popular trail, there were a few vehicles and people out and about in the area. The trail used to access the falls is well marked and maintained. I would consider the terrain to be smooth with a gradual slope. The nature of the trail makes this the perfect hike for beginners! 

Eventually, you will cross a small creek and find a fork in the trail. You want to keep left to locate Magnolia Falls. There is a path that will lead you to the top of the falls and beyond, or there are a few options to climb down to the base.

There are a lot of big rocks in the area near the falls, perfect for a snack break. There's nothing like a good granola bar at the halfway point. 

Reaching Magnolia Falls was the easy part, however, we also wanted to visit the two-three other falls in the area that are a little more difficult to access. In my world, it is not a true adventure unless something goes wrong. I am generally very diligent about studying maps and reading reviews about each and every hike that we do. I always want to know enough about an area to find my way around without a GPS. However, I totally missed the mark on this one. 

I assumed that the path located at the top of Magnolia Falls was the route to the additional falls. The path was short-lived, and instead of turning around, I convinced everyone to keep strolling through the woods. A good bushwhack is nothing unusual for me and Thomas. After a good mile of being pommeled by spider webs and tree limbs, with absolutely no break in the bluff line, we decided to turn around and call it a day. 

Fast forward, after returning from our hike, I learned that we should have returned to the fork in the original trail and went in the other direction. We will return one day to locate Woods Boys Falls and Stahle Falls.
